Hello and thanks for your interest in Safe Aquatics!
This summer we have 2 group sessions in Merced/Atwater. Each session is 9 classes long, on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Session 1 : June 10, 12, 17, 19, 24, 26, July 1, 3, 8

Session 2 : July 15, 17, 22, 24, 29, 31, August 5, 7, 12

The following levels will have availability from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

Beginners – Beginners classes are for students who have never had lessons before. If your student has any fear or trauma, this is the class for them. Beginners will work on all the safety skills and techniques with an emphasis on comfort in the water.

Intermediate – This class is great for returning students that are comfortable with a faster paced class. Your student should be comfortable going under the water, jumping in, and laying on their back with assistance. Advanced beginners will refresh all safety skills with an emphasis on independence and basic technique. (Children who may not have prior experience but are 8 years old or older tend to fit well in this level unless they are fearful.)
Advanced – This class level is for students who have a bit more experience in the water than advanced beginners. This is ideal for students who have independence in the water and have started to learn stroke technique. The focus here will be on teaching good body position and building strength so swimmers can develop more advanced stroke techniques. Intermediate students will also work on more advanced safety skills like treading water in the deep end.

Parent and Me classes (ages: 4 months to 24 months)

These classes are designed to teach parents as much as the kids! We go over things like wall awareness, how to hold onto the wall and climb out if they are not near the steps. We teach submersion and how to properly take baby under the water, proper progression of back floats and how to hold baby while floating, pass backs under the water, and how to encourage a horizontal body position.

Technique classes

For students looking for more advanced refinement of stroke technique, this is the level for them. We will go into detail on the mechanics of all four strokes and learn drills to hone the techniques for efficiency and injury prevention while building strong kicking and pulling. This is a great class for anyone preparing for swim team or needing some extra help outside of swim team. Swimmers enrolling in this level should (at least) have full independence in the water, and the ability to jump into the deep end.
Group classes have a max size of 4 and are 30 minutes long.
